Spend your gap year working at Harrodian! We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic gap year students to fill the roles of Prep School Assistant and Sport Assistant. These roles would be ideal for someone considering pursuing a career in teaching in future.
Follow in the footsteps of former Harrodian students who have come back to work at the school, including Hannah McArthur (current Prep and Senior teacher), Eliot Corcoran (former Prep Assistant) and Ella Wardroper (current Pre-Prep teacher), amongst others.
Gap Year Prep School Assistant: Immediate start until 7 July 2023
The Prep School Assistant will assist Prep School staff with a wide range of duties, including leading 1:1 reading groups, classroom preparation, playground supervision and, if needed, accompanying pupils on residential trips like Bushcraft, Coastal and PGL.
Candidates should have be willing to contribute to Harrodian’s co-curricular programme. You might have a Sports or Lifeguard coaching qualification, but this is not required.
Gap Year Sport Assistant: Immediate start until 7 July 2023
The Sport Assistant will assist the PE & Games department with a wide range of practical sport and administrative duties, including leading small and 1:1 groups, preparing classrooms and sports equipment and playground supervision.
Ideal candidates should be willing to get involved in Harrodian’s Co-curricular programme (this could involve attending day and residential trips such as Bushcraft and PGL). Completion of the Level 1 Coaching and Refereeing qualification in Rugby, Soccer and/or Cricket (as applicable), and a Lifeguarding qualification (if working in the Summer term) is required. There will be opportunities to work on Saturdays to assist with fixtures and tournaments.
Working hours
Both roles are full time (Monday-Friday during term time) from 8.00am or 8.30am to 4.30pm or 5.00pm. The salary is compliant with the national minimum wage (school lunches included) and will be paid equally over 12 months. Applicants must be able to commit for the remainder of the 2022-23 academic year.
